CRISTA Broadcasting is a network of three radio stations—SPIRIT 105.3 FM, PRAISE 106.5 FM and AM 630 KCIS—all of which encourage radio listeners to build vital relationships with Jesus Christ.
Each station maintains a loyal audience and builds relationships with new friends in unique ways: SPIRIT 105.3 FM is consistently rated as a top-five station in the Seattle Metro area with its Contemporary Christian format; AM 630 KCIS airs teaching programs and classic Christian music; and PRAISE 106.5 FM reaches north Puget Sound and the greater Vancouver, BC area with teaching programs and praise and worship music.
In FY 2007, CRISTA Broadcasting’s three stations reached more than 500,000 listeners with the message of Jesus Christ. In addition, SPIRIT listeners sponsored 77,995 meals for Seattle’s homeless through Union Gospel Mission’s (UGM’s) on-air campaigns in November 2006 and June 2007. In the words of Lisa White, UGM Director of Marketing, “Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission’s last radio-a-thon on SPIRIT 105.3 was a huge success both financially and relationally. We always look forward to working with the staff at SPIRIT 105.3.”
SPIRIT and KCIS listeners and staff showered support upon Queen-It’s a New Day, a program through which women at homeless shelters in three Seattle-area counties are treated like royalty for a day with a five-course lunch, full salon treatments and new business wardrobes. With CRISTA Broadcasting’s support and promotion, Queen-It’s a New Day experienced a record number of clothing and accessory donations.
In June, during World Concern’s “Power of Hope” campaign on PRAISE 106.5 FM, listeners were touched by stories of lives changed through micro-finance programs, which provide banking services and small business loans to people in developing nations. In preparation for the campaign, on-air personalities Larry Lomax and Karen Bishop traveled with World Concern to Kenya to hear women’s stories and see World Concern’s programs firsthand. PRAISE radio-a-thon listeners raised $130,000 for World Concern’s micro-finance programs in Haiti, Bangladesh, Bolivia and Kenya, and CRISTA Broadcasting provided World Concern with compelling testimonials for future use.
