Island Lake and Miracle Ranch are two camps with one mission: proclaiming Christ through exceptional camp experiences. Caring staff, first-class facilities, appealing programs and beautiful locations make CRISTA Camps an exceptional experience for children and youth participating in summer camp, weekend camp, homeschool classes and customized group retreats. Participants taking part in outdoor adventures develop authentic relationships with one another while experiencing Christ’s love.
In FY 2007, CRISTA Camps Island Lake and Miracle Ranch served 2,444 individuals through summer camps in addition to the guests we served through group rental retreats. While at summer camp, 197 campers committed their lives to Christ and more than 230 inner-city children from Seattle and Tacoma experienced a fun, Christ-centered week at camp thanks to the commitment of our donors. Over $90,000 was raised, and partial camp scholarships were provided for an additional 140 children. Their generosity made the dream of going to summer camp a reality for these kids.
Significant remodels and upgrades were accomplished at both facilities this year. At Miracle Ranch, Cheney Hall and Chuckwagon Inn received interior renovations, including new flooring and carpet. Chuckwagon Inn was also revitalized with a new stained and stamped concrete deck and a new roof providing rain cover, shade and protection for the building exterior. At Island Lake, Greenleaf Lodge was refurbished with new lighting, painting and carpeting.
One parent of an Island Lake camper said, "My son was thrilled to see me at the end of camp, but wished he could stay longer. Later that day, he told me camp was the most fun he’d ever had and that he hopes to be a Counselor-in-training when he is older. Even his older brother was drawn in by his enthusiasm and asked if he could participate next year. Thank you, counselors, for being so caring, goofy, fun loving, interested and committed—you are what made the camp an over-the-top experience for him." This is the kind of feedback we’re honored to receive as we do our best to share Christ’s love with our campers.
